Politicians

As those who have been reading this blog know, I have previously endorsed Ron Paul. I watched him this week on Face the Nation and was appalled by some of his attitudes. While I believe strongly in the need to limit the Federal Government and return authority over abortion, et al, to the States, as well as the need to end the IRS, I believe some of Dr. Pauls expressions went beyond the pale, and I need to withdraw my previous endorsement.

While I believe the Constitution has been kidnapped and ignored resulting in States and citizens losing rights to the Federal Government. IF such a condition is to be the status quo, we must nake sure we have a government who is liberal towards it's citizens!

I am appalled by Geoge Bush vetoing health care for Children! And this from a man who identifies himself as a Christian .... shameful .... I guess he never heard of "in that you do it for the least of these you do it unto me."

On a forum I am a part of I have been "chastised" for being a socialist. I wrote this:

As a Christian I feel it my reponsibility, as much as possible, to have an effect on those areas over which I have influence. I see Christ saying such "socialist" things as, "if they ask for your coat give them your cloak also", "in that you have done it unto the least of them, you have done it unto me" (I wonder if the "least" included dead beats?"), "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

As a citizen it is my opinion that is is my responsibility to see that my government behaves in a Christian way. (That belief extends beyond abortion, and prayer in schools.) It seems to me that many want "Christian Standards" as long as it doesn't cost them anything!

It is easy to pontifocate over stem cell research, but harder to pay taxes to help children eat or receive health care.Oh we can turn red in the face about the value of the unborn, BUT after they are born, it is "so what if they are hungry .... their parents are just low life."

This to me is the very antithesis of Christianity. The type of Christianity taught by Christ.

Yes I am in favor of the free market system. BUT every free market operates under the restraints placed upon it. Profit levels are obscene and I do not consider it unreasonable for those corporations to pay to help the neediest of society.

Since it seems unlikely that hearts motivated by greed will ever willingly open their gold bags for the benefit of others, I as a Christian must try to influence my govenment to open them.

There should be a book written about it ... oh there was "The Christmas Story!" Charles Dickens that old socialist!!

I am sure glad God didn't determine the value of the recipients before He gave!

It never ceases to amaze me how "filthy rags", judge, condemn, and determine the value of people. I visit daily people without health insurance, and suffer as its result. I long for a moral conservative and a social liberal! BUT given the choice I will support those who care for people over those who care about corporations.

We in Ohio have a former Missionary as Governor. Oooops he's a Democrat, but he cares ... a true exhibition of Christ!!

One thing Ron Paul said Sunday which is very true is that we are awfully close to fascism at the present time. John Edwards for one is really addresing this and I appreciate it. When Sen. McCain refused to sign on to the Bush "tax cut" which benefited the wealthiest, he was attacked for being against tax cuts. How disingenuous.

If you are reading this ... please, please, consider carefully who you support.

I just got off the phone wishing Christmas greetings with an Uncle who is a renowned Physician, and a great Christian. He voiced support for either Hillary or Edwards. I have long appreciated Edwards positions, and need to look objectivly at Hillary.

Trade Corridor - Ron Paul tells the truth!

So ... Ron Paul is a conspiracist? I think he tells the truth and there are many who don't!

Ron Paul

I was sent this letter. It is alittle lengthy, but oh so accurate!

Who is Chuck Baldwin? you ask; and why should a Christian care what he says?FOUNDER-PASTOR of Crossroad Baptist Church in Pensacola, Florida. Dr. Baldwin and his wife met with four others on June 22, 1975, for the first meeting of the Crossroad Baptist Church. The church was organized in September of that year. Six acres of prime property were purchased in 1978. In 1985 the church was recognized by President Ronald Reagan for its unusual growth and influence. The church has gone through five building programs and has just move into its current 750-seat auditorium and office complex.

RADIO TALK SHOW HOST AND BROADCASTER: For eight years, Dr. Baldwin has been the host of a lively, hard-hitting radio talk show called, "Chuck Baldwin Live," a daily call-in show in which Dr. Baldwin addressed current event topics from a conservative Christian point of view. The show has been highly successful in helping to elect conservatives to local, state and national offices. "Chuck Baldwin Live" has been regarded as perhaps the most influential voice in the Florida Panhandle for conservative, Christian principles.

Thousands of concerned citizens have been informed and inspired to social and political activism as a direct result of this radio talk show. Chuck's guest list reads like a "Who's Who" from both the local and national scene. Currently, "Chuck Baldwin Live...From Crossroad Baptist Church," airs on multiple stations throughout Florida and Alabama. This broadcast is a live recording of Pastor Baldwin's Sunday sermons.

MORAL MAJORITY LEADER: From 1980-1984 Dr. Baldwin served as Pensacola Chairman, and then State Chairman of the Florida Moral Majority. Through these efforts many successful rallies and conferences were conducted. (One rally drew nearly 2,000 people during a driving rain storm.) Pro-family legislation was enacted, and Christians were educated as to moral-political information and involvement. Also, thousands of new conservative voters were generated.

Christian Right Just Doesn't Get It

By Chuck BaldwinDecember 7, 2007

This column is archived at http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2007/cbarchive_20071207.html

These are people I have known most of my life. They are my friends. I have spoken at their gatherings and rallies, participated in their discussions, and prayed with them. Of course, I'm talking about the fine men and women who can be categorized as the Christian Right.

On the whole, we share the same values and principles. We are pro-life; we stand for marriage as God defined it; we believe in the right to keep and bear arms; we support capital punishment (albeit I will be the first to admit that there are many inequities in the application of capital punishment that desperately need to be rectified); we believe children should have the right to pray in school; we believe former Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore Jr. had every right to post the Ten Commandments in the Rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court building, and before that, a plaque of the Ten Commandments in his Circuit Court building in Gadsden; and we believe in limited government. In 1980 and 1984, I joined my friends in the Christian Right in helping Ronald Reagan achieve two landslide victories. In fact, as the Executive Director for the Florida Moral Majority, I helped my friend, the late Jerry Falwell, register more than 50,000 evangelical voters during those years.

In 2000 and 2004, my wife and I could not in good conscience vote for G.W. Bush, so we cast an independent ballot those two elections. However, there is no question that, to a great extent, it was the Christian Right's almost universal support for George W. Bush that gave him two terms in the White House.Unfortunately, it has been the Christian Right's blind support for President Bush in particular and the Republican Party in general that has precipitated a glaring and perhaps fatal defect: the Christian Right cannot, or will not, honestly face the real danger confronting these United States.

The reason for this blindness is due, in part, to political partisanship or personal aggrandizement. Regardless, the Christian Right is currently devoid of genuine sagacity. On the whole, they fail to understand the issues that are critical to our nation's--and their own--survival.Republican candidates have learned how to "talk the language." They know that Christians are basically compassionate and trusting people, and therefore prone to being gullible and easily manipulated. They know that Christians have short memories and are desperate to be accepted at the king's table (largely a result of the church-growth movement and mega-church mentality). It is at this point that much blame should be cast at the feet of the leaders of the so-called Religious Right. They have proven themselves to be much more interested in enriching their "ministries" (and themselves in the process) than they are in standing uncompromisingly for the truth. The infatuation with power and success has made them weak and vulnerable.

As a result, George W. Bush and Karl Rove have made mincemeat out of the Religious Right. They have shown everyone that once you win the support of the Christian Right with rhetoric, you can get by with just about anything. Christians are horrible at holding Republicans accountable.Hence, neocon Republicans such as Mitt Romney, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and even Rudy Giuliani are all currently receiving fractured support from the Christian Right. However, you can mark this down: the Christian Right (with few exceptions) will eventually coalesce around whoever wins the Republican nomination--no matter who it is.

You see, it's all about political partisanship. Principles are only something we talk about during off-election years.Sadly, this is what the Christian Right just doesn't get: ninety percent of the time, it doesn't matter to a tinker's dam whether a Republican or Democrat wins the White House.

Both parties are mostly dominated and controlled by the same interests. Both major parties carry water for Big Money conglomerates. Both parties are heavily influenced by globalists and internationalists. Neither party has any loyalty to the U.S. Constitution or the principles of liberty. All the pro-life, pro-family, traditional-values, conservative talk is just that: talk. Republicans use conservative rhetoric the same way Democrats use liberal rhetoric. Neither party believes what they are telling their constituents. They merely say what constituents want to hear in order to get elected; after which, they set about to do what their elitist, globalist manipulators tell them to do.Accordingly, no matter which party wields power in Washington, D.C., nothing much changes.

Oh, there might be a little variance here or there, but the overall agenda of the globalists is undeterred. And the Christian Right just doesn't get it. They don't see it. They have swallowed the partisan line all the way to the gullet.

Let's have a reality check here. The globalist-handlers running things in Washington, D.C., for the most part, could not care less about abortion or gay marriage, one way or the other. They will gladly give their support to "pro-life" and "pro-family" candidates as quickly as they will to "pro-choice" or "pro-gay marriage" candidates. As long as the candidate will offer no resistance to their plans for global government, they could not care less about his or her position on social issues. And, once again, the Christian Right just doesn't get it.Somewhere down the line, the Christian Right has lost track of the importance of constitutional government. They have forgotten (or never learned) the principles of liberty.

Sadly, the Christian Right has allowed The Bill of Rights to become an antiquated and incidental document with no importance whatsoever to them.Beyond that, in many respects, the Christian Right has become as totalitarian in philosophy as many of the Pagan Left. One should understand that the extremes of both left and right end up at the same place: tyranny.

Take a conservative rightwinger to the extreme and one ends up with Adolf Hitler. Take a liberal leftwinger to the extreme and one ends up with Joseph Stalin. So, which is worse? It is hardly worth arguing about. Tyranny is tyranny regardless of the label of the one exercising it.So what if the Democrats hate the Republicans and the Republicans hate the Democrats (the Nazis hated the Bolsheviks and vice versa).

If both parties are dismantling constitutional government and stealing personal liberties, they are equally dangerous. And that is exactly where we are today. On the whole, Republicans are just as dangerous as Democrats. In fact, more constitutional freedoms have been lost under George W. Bush than any President (including Democrats) in modern memory.

(See: http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/c2002/cbarchive_20020924.html And remember, this report is five years old.)

Have you wondered why Mike Huckabee is suddenly getting so much favorable attention from the mainstream media (who themselves are controlled by this gaggle of global elite)? To find the answer as to why a professing pro-life, conservative Christian would suddenly become the darling of the media, look no further than the fact that just a couple of months ago, Mr. Huckabee appeared before the globalist-minded Council on Foreign Relations. (Read his speech here: http://www.cfr.org/publication/14335/ ) And when he did, it became abundantly clear that Huckabee was a man globalists could trust.By the way, as you read Huckabee's speech, you will find that he is George W. Bush on steroids!

This is a man who intends to meddle in the affairs of nations around the world like you can't believe. Talk about entangling alliances: Huckabee intends for our State, Energy, Housing, Education, Justice, Treasury, and Transportation departments to spend untold billions of tax dollars on just about anything and everything, including schools, medical facilities, roads, sewage treatment, water filtration, electricity, and legal and banking systems in countries all over the globe. And that is exactly the kind of man the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) wants in Washington.Make no mistake about it: the CFR has dominated every administration, Republican and Democrat, since World War II. They hold sway over most every critical Presidential appointment. Look carefully and one will discover that the Republican President George W. Bush has had as many CFR members in his administration as Democrat President Bill Clinton did in his.

The last time I counted, President Bush had nearly 200 members of the CFR in his administration.Remember that the total number of CFR members is less than 5,000. Can one imagine what people would think if, say, the old Christian Coalition, which at one time numbered in the hundreds of thousands, had nearly 200 members in any one administration? Talk about conjectures of a conspiracy: the media would go ballistic. Yet, each and every administration, regardless of party, continues to fill their ranks with members of the CFR, and with those friendly with the CFR, and no one seems to notice. Do you now understand why nothing changes no matter which party wins the White House?

Now consider the current presidential candidates who are also members of the CFR. These include Christopher Dodd, Bill Richardson, John McCain, and Fred Thompson. Hillary is not a member of the CFR, but her husband, Bill, is. Plus, she has a plethora of advisors who are CFR members.

And even though Mike Huckabee is not on this list (neither is George W. Bush), it is obvious that he will carry water for them in much the same way as the current President has done.

Barack Obama has spoken at least once for the CFR. John Edwards has appeared before the CFR several times. Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney both wrote for the CFR and have numerous advisors who are CFR members, as do Edwards and Obama.

This also explains why independent-minded candidates such as Ron Paul are forever cast in terms such as "fringe," or "extremist," or "nutty." The same CFR elite that controls the Washington political establishment also controls the New York media and financial establishments. And they hate outsiders! Of course, outsiders are those who do not share the globalist, utopian, New World Order machinations of the CFR.Until the American people--and especially people within the Christian Right--begin to awaken to what is really going on, nothing will change. Absolutely nothing. As one person said, "The height of absurdity is to continue to vote for the same thing and expect a different result."A vote for just about every major presidential candidate from either party is a vote for more of the same thing.

Of the Presidential candidates in serious contention, Ron Paul, and Ron Paul alone, stands for change. Ron Paul, alone, would truly obey his oath to the Constitution and would work to restore freedom and liberty to the American people. Ron Paul, alone, would kick the globalist elite out of power in Washington, D.C., and restore this country to constitutional governance.

http://www.metagroups.info/GuestArticles.htm#RP-EMPTYPOT (please scroll up from that article about this subject, which is the importance of integrity when choosing leaders.]But, once again, the Christian Right just doesn't get it. So, they will continue to support establishment, CFR-backed, globalist candidates who will, in turn, continue to do the bidding of the international elite. One would think that Christians--more than anyone else--would understand the devilish nature of globalism. One would think that their study of the Sacred Text would lead them to resist any attempts at building modern-day Towers of Babel.

One would think that Christians would love liberty enough to recognize its enemies. One would think that they would recognize that Washington, D.C., is a far greater threat to their freedom than either Baghdad or Tehran. But, alas, the Christian Right just doesn't get it.That is the difference between the Christian Right today and the Christians of 1776. They understood that "when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object, evinces a DESIGN [emphasis added] to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security." (Declaration of Independence)When the Christian Right finally awakens to the "Design" behind the "long train of abuses and usurpations," they will then be able to "throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security."

But, alas, these people I love and am pleased to call friends, the good people of the Christian Right: they just don't get it!

It has been alittle while

... since I have posted anything, so I thought I would. I just got in from shoveling our diveway. We got 5" on Wedenesday, and , probably another 3 today. It is supposed to turn to sleet later, and I think it is actually changeing now. Our average is only 30" a year so based on that we will only receive another 22 inches this year. Somehow I doubt that!

I have been following the political happenings rather closely.

Mit Romneys speach on Mormonism was very interesting and might I say very Presidential. For some reason however I find him very plastic.

Gov. Huckabee has aparently become the darling of the religious right. You know, the same religious right who gave us, don't insure the kids Bush. I read an article today which condemned McCain because he was against a Consstitutional Chane banning Gay marriage. He had the audacity to say it was a State issue! Duh, if I remember right my marriage liscense was issued by a State! They love to use the catch concerns of Gays and Abortion. Saints, they are not the only issues, and if we got a real Constitutionalist like Ron Paul the States would get to make the determination, and when the voters vote, like they did on Gay marriage here in Ohio, abortion would also be made illegal. What gives the Federal Government the authority on issues not granted them in the Constitution?

I officially begin my 13th year of Pastoring here in Newark! There have been many rough times, but it is home now. I cancelled Church Wednesday because of the snow and I think there were some not too pleased with the decision. While driving by Church time wasn't too bad, our lot had not been plowed so I had no other choice.

more later ...

Vista

I called tech support yesterday, and they told me I should reinstall windows xp .... again!

This is a high end professional computer with loads of memory, a fast disk, and upgraded chip set. This should NOT have been happening.

In my online search for remedies I realized this computer was not meant for XP, but for Vista. After some haggeling I obtained a copy of Windows Vista Business.

I had been warned adnauseum about the trouble with Vista incompatability issues, both hardware and software.

Well yesterday I took the plunge! At about 4 pm I began to install Vista as an update! This was another move I had been warned against.

I backed up all my data, and pressed update.

It took about an hour and 45 minutes to upgrade. There were few programs that wouldn't run, and I had a few drivers that wouldn't work. First thing I did was go to the Windows download page and downloaded 38 upgrades. Then I checked each program and when updates were needed I went to their web page and downloaded updates for Vista.

At about 1 AM all my programs were updated, my drivers were all working, BUT suddenly my computer couldn't see my wireless network!

I had been talking to Linksys tech about a IT job I was doing and I remembered them telling me that sometimes when an SSID isn't broadcast even other computers or extenders can't see them. So I changed my airport to broadcast my SSID, keeping WEP enabled, and voila, I was back online.

Thus far I am VERY pleased!! Fast, stable, and no sign of the problems I had been having.

I a told there is a SP coming out at the first of the year, so that will hopefully solve the SSID problem.

So far so good!! I love the new features, and it is "eye candy!"

Another car buying tip!

This is from Yahoo finance:

Monthly Payment

2. "I can afford this much per month."

"Don't tell the dealer what you're willing to pay per month. This is the biggest mistake a shopper can make. Often the dealer will focus on a monthly payment scheme, insisting you are receiving a great deal, but at the end of the day you won't really know what you paid, advises Gentile.

"If the dealer can get a number out of you, a common trick is to ask if you can squeeze out a slightly higher monthly payment, then raise the bottom-line price accordingly by hundreds or even thousands. Avoid this by insisting that you focus only on the purchase price. Walk away if the salesperson only wants to talk in monthly payments."

Notice Yahoo calls this a scheme!!! Has anyone shopped at Mathews lately?????

I accept the honor bestowed on me by having been fired "because I wouldn't fit in!" Exactly!! I will not participate in a scheme! I guess when I was told, "it's not going to work". that was very, very, accurate!!! Thanks Kenny Wilson for showing me reality!

You can read the whole Yahoo article here:

http://finance.yahoo.com/loans/article/103787/Things-to-Never-Say-to-a-Dealer

Labels are Libels!!

I just received a phone call from an obviously disgruntled member of some Church. She asked me .... are you Cleveland or Anderson!! I told her Cleveland, and she abrubtly said "thank-you ...bye!"

She knows nothing about us except what the stereotypes and "experiences" have taught her. She knows nothing about US!! It is so shameful!

I would run very quickly from the behavior and practices of what some members of my own faith group would espouse. Probably quicker than a Church of God, Anderson.

It is all part of the labels being libels! Just because we are living in this world, don't think we are the same as those you have met, seen, or read about!

Dear Sister, I hope you took longer than 30 seconds to learn your husband was not a pedophile, a wife abuser, or an alcoholic before you married!

If you had taken time to learn about us, you would have learned we are not some name it and claim it, properity pimps, holy rollers, but rather a scripturally grounded (I have a Masters Degree), loving community of believers.

Bill Lewis at Newark Heights

We concluded our Morning Service with a Pot Luck Dinner! It was a great conclusion to a great day!! Bill Lewis is an extrordinary minister of the Gospel and so very, very talented.

He and his wife Linda ministered tremendously to our people! The body of Christ at it's best is very diverse. Bill and Linda certainly come from a different culture than do I. He was raised Church of God but has found a home as an Ordained Southern Baptist. He identifies himself as a "Bapticostal"! We have invited him back next fall for a 4 night crusade! Our people loved them!!

As did this Canadian!!

Why would I think PC's had changed??

As is well known I have been an avid Mac fan for the last several years.

Recently due to many variables I decided to return to the PC community. Two years ago I bought my wife a Gateway laptop for Christmas, and since she has been very pleased with it, I decided I would get a Gateway.

I purchased a professional level laptop (Gateway has sold it's Professional Division to MFC).Rather than make this a novel, let me just say that several weeks of calls to support due to numerous problems, my computer finally had a complete crash! I had to do a complete new install. I lost all the programs thant I bought from Gateway with my computer. But that wasn't supposed to be any problem because they were all on the restore disk. only problem being my restore disk was empty!! Sheesh!!!

So now I am waiting for a restore disk, my computer has been restored.

Because of my experience with PC's I had a backup of all my data.It has been quite a week!!MFC's tech support ranges from the totally inept to the very knowledgable! Before doing anything make sure which you have. This nightmare was not necessary if I had contacted my last tech support first.

Render Unto Ceaser

When Christ said, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesars’ and unto God the things that are Gods’” He clearly expressed the reality that there are those parts of a believers existence which are not a part of the Divine, and those that are. Obviously I can not disassociate my faith from those areas of my life which are part of the “worldly existence.” I must be ever conscious of the great difference between the two.

The scripture makes it plain that we are to have our faith affect our life in the world, not the world our faith or worship. In this day of a “user friendly” mentality, many churches have gone out of their way to make attendees feel comfortable. I was always of the persuasion that the unbeliever should feel at least a little uneasy in the Church. Isn’t that a part of what conviction is? Now I am not talking about being made to feel uncomfortable because of unfriendliness, but rather because of the loving yet unquestionable conviction of the Holy Spirit. When many are proclaiming such marvelous movings of the Holy Spirit I don’t understand why the unbeliever is so at home, and conviction so lacking.

Could it be that what is Caesars’ and what is Gods’ have somehow become merged into one?

I trust each of us affect the world around us. But never let the Church be changed into conformity with the world l! The Church and the world are as distinct as … well …the CHURCH AND THE WORLD.

Bush is the biggest spender since LBJ

David Lightman McClatchy Newspapers
last updated: October 23, 2007 07:34:58 PM

WASHINGTON — George W. Bush, despite all his recent bravado about being an apostle of small government and budget-slashing, is the biggest spending president since Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, he's arguably an even bigger spender than LBJ.

“He’s a big government guy,” said Stephen Slivinski, the director of budget studies at Cato Institute, a libertarian research group.

The numbers are clear, credible and conclusive, added David Keating, the executive director of the Club for Growth, a budget-watchdog group.

“He’s a big spender,” Keating said. “No question about it.”

Take almost any yardstick and Bush generally exceeds the spending of his predecessors.
When adjusted for inflation, discretionary spending — or budget items that Congress and the president can control, including defense and domestic programs, but not entitlements such as Social Security and Medicare — shot up at an average annual rate of 5.3 percent during Bush’s first six years, Slivinski calculates.

That tops the 4.6 percent annual rate Johnson logged during his 1963-69 presidency. By these standards, Ronald Reagan was a tightwad; discretionary spending grew by only 1.9 percent a year on his watch.

Discretionary spending went up in Bush's first term by 48.5 percent, not adjusted for inflation, more than twice as much as Bill Clinton did (21.6 percent) in two full terms, Slivinski reports.
Defense spending is the big driver — but hardly the only one.

Under Bush it's grown on average by 5.7 percent a year. Under LBJ — who had a war to fund, too — it rose by 4.9 percent a year. Both numbers are adjusted for inflation.

Including costs for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, defense spending under Bush has gone up 86 percent since 2001, according to Chris Hellman of the Center for Arms Control and Non-
Proliferation.

Current annual defense spending — not counting war costs — is 25 percent above the height of the Reagan-era buildup, Hellman said.

Homeland security spending also has soared, to about $31 billion last year, triple the pre-9/11 number.

But Bush's super-spending is about far more than defense and homeland security.
Brian Riedl, a budget analyst at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative research group, points to education spending. Adjusted for inflation, it's up 18 percent annually since 2001, thanks largely to Bush’s No Child Left Behind act.

The 2002 farm bill, he said, caused agriculture spending to double its 1990s levels.
Then there was the 2003 Medicare prescription drug benefit — the biggest single expansion in the program’s history — whose 10-year costs are estimated at more than $700 billion.
And the 2005 highway bill, which included thousands of “earmarks,” or special local projects stuck into the legislation by individual lawmakers without review, cost $295 billion.
“He has presided over massive increases in almost every category … a dramatic change of pace from most previous presidents,” said Slivinski.

The White House counters by noting that Bush took office as the country was heading into a recession, then reeled from the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“This president had to overcome some things that required additional spending,” said Sean Kevelighan, a White House budget office spokesman.
Bush does have other backers.

Diana Furchtgott-Roth, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, a conservative research group, blamed a ravenous Congress that was eager to show constituents how generous it could be. (Republicans ran that Congress until January. Bush never vetoed a single GOP spending bill.)
The White House points out that, nearly four years ago, Bush vowed to cut the deficit in half by 2009, and he's well on his way to achieving that goal. The fiscal 2004 deficit was a record $412.7 billion; the 2007 figure plunged to $163 billion.

But the deficit drop may be fleeting, experts say, since lawmakers are likely to extend many of Bush’s tax cuts, which expire by the end of 2010, and the imminent retirement of the baby boom generation will send Medicare and Social Security costs soaring in the years ahead.
Now, near the end of the seventh year of his presidency, Bush is positioning himself as a tough fiscal conservative.

He says Congress is proposing to spend $22 billion more in fiscal 2008 than the $933 billion he requested for discretionary programs — and that the $22 billion extra would swell over five years to $205 billion.

Eventually, Bush said, “they’re going to have to raise taxes to pay for it.”
And so, the president told an Arkansas audience earlier this month, people should brace for “what they call a fiscal showdown in Washington.

“The Congress gets to propose and, if it doesn’t meet needs as far as I’m concerned, I get to veto,” he said. “And that’s precisely what I intend to do.”
Bush is getting tough on fiscal policy — after running up a record as the most profligate spender in at least 40 years.

“The spending did happen,” said Keating, “and a lot of it shouldn’t have happened.”

Thursday morning Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandy Winfield was murdered. An illegal alien executed him. His wife has lost a loving husband, and his two children, including 3-year-old Landon, will never have the joy of their Dad’s encouragement and instruction.

As a Father my concern for my own son and son-in-law, both law enforcement officers, has been piqued. As a Pastor and law enforcement chaplain, I recognize the great need for spiritual support amongst those in the law enforcement community. As a citizen I am angry that our government seems to turn a blind eye to the thousands of lawbreakers streaming across our southern border. As a consumer I am determined never to support those businesses, which employ illegal workers.

The Bible asks the question “How can two walk together except they be agreed?” As Christians we are living pictures of Christ. What the unbelievers see in us is what they see of Christ. You cannot separate the effects of our faith from our faith. Neither can you separate the actions of illegal aliens from that of the politicians and officials, which condone their illegal behavior.

Tonight two little children will go to bed missing their Dad, and a wife will try to cope with the loss of her husband. They need our prayers. I trust those whose policies encourage illegal immigration sleep well. They also need our prayers.

My Current Politcal Pick

As those who know me know, I am very interested in politics. Like some, I have spent much time over the last several weeks listening to politicians ad naseum! I believe our nation is in crises. We need a President who truly defends and protects the Constitution! I believe Dr. Ron Paul is that man! If you haven't seriously considered him, please do so by visiting his site.

WiFi Extender

Today I completed my work at Brucker and Kishler and installed a Linksys Extender to enable wireless internet over the building. It was not an easy task as the router kept kicking out an inaccurate ip. In spite of releasing, renewing, etc. I was not able to get a working ip. I finally called Linksys and the tech advised me I needed a firmware update on the router. He did that for me and shortly I needed to find a good location for the extender. We placed it high in the new loby and voila...wireless!!

I then intended to make a network but everyone was very busy so I will look at it sometime in the future when the computers aren't needed.

Overall I am very pleased!!

Car Dealer Profit -2

It ahould come as no surprise that there is allot of money to be made in car sales. Like everything else are allot of variables but it is done. New car sales are interesting. Have you ever seen a car dealership which only sells new cars? Know why? In the car world the real profit, the obscene profit is in the used car. BUT don't ever let a salesman tell you they are not making any money on a new car.

I saw a televison ad recently from Ricart Ford in Columbus in which they posted the invoices of their cars on a wall, and all you needed to do was chose your invoice. The implication being you were paying for the car what the dealer did. WRONG!!!

When I worked for Mathews Ford I was given a password and login name for FMCdealers.com. On that site it is made clear there are not 2 prices, sticker and invoice ... but three!!! Sticker, invoice and dealer cost. Thats right .... the dealer did not pay invoice for the car, they paid dealer cost which is $1000.00 or more LESS than invoice. So they are making money. Now Mathews is selling over 200 cars a month. Even if every car was sold at invoice that is over $200,000 profit in one month! But that is chump change!!

The real money is in the used cars, the trades .... and by the way the deal is written up! Oh and just when you think the deal is settled and the deal is sent back to finance .... get ready to pay big time!! They need to eat also .... this and more is coming!

Car Dealer Profit

Tomorrow I hope to enlarge on how the car dealerships can pay $150,000 a year to their sales people while maintaining state of the art buildings! There is a reason them they call them dealerships! How much did you really get on your trade .... or pay for your car? Where is the money coming from???

Wireless Setup

Well, today I acted as an IT specialist for Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. For months and months they have been trying to make their internet available over wireless, both for guests in their cafe, as well as for my wife and others working there. I set out this morning to make it work. By the time I left late this afternoon wireless was working for everyone. Tomorrow I need to extend their wireless and encryp the connection.

Everyone is very pleased!!!

The major problem was that the DSL server they were using was PPPoE while the wireless was DHCP!!! No wonder they were frustrated, ever try to comunicate with a Chinese national! LOL

Unfortunately the owner had forgotten the log in info, and the modem was 10 years old and did not even have an ip address. We had to use telnet to communicate with the modem. As a result, plus that of the provider having messed up the log in name, complicated matters a great deal. BUT, when I left not only was everyone on line, but the wireless was working.

Tomorrow I set up a Linksys extender, enable WEP, change the network name, enable network accesibility ... and I will be done.

You can't access the Father apart from the SON. Everything must speak the same language, and that is the role of the Holy Spirit! It is sad that just because the connected light is on some feel they have reached the Father!!!

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger

"Mom and Dad" as well as "husband and wife" effectively have been banned from California schools under a bill signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who with his signature also ordered public schools to allow boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms, and vice versa, if they choose.

"We are shocked and appalled that the governor has blatantly attacked traditional family values in California," said Karen England, executive director of Capitol Resource Institute.
"With this decision, Gov. Schwarzenegger has told parents that their values are irrelevant. Many parents will have no choice but to pull their children out of the public schools that have now become sexualized indoctrination centers."

"Arnold Schwarzenegger has delivered young children into the hands of those who will introduce them to alternative sexual lifestyles," said Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, which worked to defeat the plans. "This means children as young as five years old will be mentally molested in school classrooms.

"Shame on Schwarzenegger and the Democrat politicians for ensuring that every California school becomes a homosexual-bisexual-transsexual indoctrination center," he said.
Analysts have warned that schools across the nation will be impacted by the decision, since textbook publishers must cater to their largest purchaser, which often is California, and they will be unlikely to go to the expense of having a separate edition for other states.
The bills signed by Schwarzenegger include SB777, which bans anything in public schools that could be interpreted as negative toward homosexuality, bisexuality and other alternative lifestyle choices.

There are no similar protections for students with traditional or conservative lifestyles and beliefs, however.

"SB 777 will result in reverse discrimination against students with religious and traditional family values," said Meredith Turney, legislative liaison for Capitol Resource Institute. "These students have lost their voice as the direct result of Gov. Schwarzenegger's unbelievable decision. The terms 'mom and dad' or 'husband and wife' could promote discrimination against homosexuals if a same-sex couple is not also featured.

"Parents want the assurance that when their children go to school they will learn the fundamentals of reading, writing and arithmetic – not social indoctrination regarding alternative sexual lifestyles. Now that SB777 is law, schools will in fact become indoctrination centers for sexual experimentation," she said.

England told WND that the law is not a list of banned words, including "mom" and "dad." But she said the requirement is that the law bans discriminatory bias.

"Having 'mom' and 'dad' promotes a dicsriminatory bias. You have to either get rid of 'mom' and 'dad' or include everything when talking about [parental issues]," she said. "They [promoters of sexual alternative lifestyles] do consider that discriminatory."

Also signed was AB394, which targets parents and teachers for such indoctrination through "anti-harassment" training, CCF said.

Schwarzenegger had vetoed almost identical provisions a year ago, saying existing state law already provided for penalties for discrimination.

"We had hoped that the governor would once again veto this outrageous legislation but he obviously decided to side with the out-of-touch extremists that control the legislature. This law does not reflect the true values of the average Californian," said England. "True leadership means standing up for what is true and right."

Thomasson said SB777 prohibits any "instruction" or school-sponsored "activity" that "promotes a discriminatory bias" against "gender" – the bill's definition includes cross-dressing and sex changes – as well as "sexual orientation."

"Because no textbook or instruction in California public schools currently disparages transsexuality, bisexuality, or homosexuality, the practical effect of SB777 will be to require positive portrayals of these sexual lifestyles at every government-operated school," CCF noted.
Offenders will face the wrath of the state Department of Education, up to and including lawsuits.
CCF noted that now on a banned list will be any text, reference or teaching aid that portrays marriage as only between a man and woman, materials that say people are born male or female (and not in between), sources that fail to include a variety of transsexual, bisexual and homosexual historical figures, and sex education materials that fail to offer the option of sex changes.

Further, homecoming kings now can be either male or female – as can homecoming queens, and students, whether male or female, must be allowed to use the restroom and locker room corresponding to the sex with which they choose to identify.

AB394 promotes the same issues through state-funded publications, postings, curricula and handouts to students, parents and teachers.

It also creates the circumstances where a parent who says marriage is only for a man and a woman in the presence of a lesbian teacher could be convicted of "harassment," and a student who believes people are born either male or female could be reported as a "harasser" by a male teacher who wears women's clothes, CCF said.

Thomasson said Schwarzenegger also signed AB14, which prohibits state funding for any program that does not support a range of alternative sexual practices, including state-funded social services run by churches.

Affected will be day cares, preschool or after-school programs, food and housing programs, senior services, anti-gang efforts, jobs programs and others.

Thomasson said it also forces every hospital in California – even private, religious hospitals – to adopt policies in support of transsexuality, bisexuality, and homosexuality and opens up nonprofit organizations to lawsuits if they exclude members that engage in homosexual, bisexual, or transsexual conduct.

"It's the height of intolerance to punish individuals, organizations, businesses, and churches that have moral standards on sexual conduct and sexual lifestyles," said Thomasson, in response to the signing of AB14. "This is another insensitive law that violates people's moral boundaries."
The vitriol over the issue rose to new levels in its latest campaign.

As WND reported, a board member for the homosexual advocacy group Equality California verbally attacked and threatened CRI for its opposition to the bill earlier.
The board member sent an e-mail and video to CRI threatening the group would be buried if it continued efforts opposing the homosexual advocacy.

"The shocking hate mail we received shows that those behind this legislation do not promote true tolerance," said England. "Only politically correct speech will be tolerated. Those with religious or traditional moral beliefs will not be allowed to express their opinions in public schools."

She also cited an informational document published by the Gay-Straight Alliance Network and the Transgender Law Center that already is lobbying for special treatment in the school system.
"If you want to use a restroom that matches your gender identity … you should be allowed to do so," it advises. "Whenever students are divided up into boys and girls, you should be allowed to join the group or participate in the program that matches your gender identity as much as possible."

Further, the groups advise, "If you change your name to one that better matches your gender identity, a school needs to use that name to refer to you." The advocacy group also warns schools against bringing parents into any such discussion with students.

WND has documented a number of earlier cases in which educators, including leaders in California, have taken it upon themselves to promote a homosexual lifestyle to children under their charge.

WND reported California Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell, under whose supervision hundreds of thousands of children are being educated, has used his state position and taxpayer-funded stationery to praise a "gay" pride event used in the past to expose children to sexually explicit activities.

That drew vehement objections from several educators, including Priscilla Schreiber, the president of the Grossmont Unified High School District governing board.

"I am outraged that a person in this high-ranking elected position would advocate an event where diversity is not just being celebrated but where pornography and indecent exposure is being perpetrated on the young and innocent children of our communities," she said.

Church Repair

This summer we have been hit with some pretty severe storms. One of the storms knocked down a large maple tree.

Today I contracted with Clagget Construction to do the repairs. Paul (the owner) is a very Godly man, and does excellent work! There are roof shingles, gutter, sophit (sp), and handicap ramp repairs to be done!

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

'How old are you?' 'I'm four and a half!' You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five! That's the key

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

'How old are you?' 'I'm gonna be 16!' You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . You become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40. Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80's and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30 ; you REACH bedtime. And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; 'I Was JUST 92.'

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. 'I'm 100 and a half!'
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them.'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

We are under Attack!!!

THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!

We Must Stop This Immediately !

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper? Groceries are heavier? And, everything is farther away? Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!

And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones. They speak in whispers &... all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader??!?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other hand, people my own age are so much older than I am.... I mean, I ran into an old friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize me. Poor soul.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection... well, REALLY NOW! - even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!

Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and swerve in my rear view mirror!

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they suddenly start labeling a size 10 or 12 dress as 18 or 20? Do they think no one notices? The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same cruel prank. Do they think I actually "believe" the number I see on that dial? HA! I would never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're fooling?

I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone books in such small type that no one could ever find a number in there!

All I can do is pass along this warning:
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!

Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer these awful indignities.

PS: I am sending this to you in a larger font size, because something has happened to my computer's fonts - they are smaller than they once were.

My experiences as a car salesman!

I will be editing this post in the future, this is just a start.

About two months ago I began working as a saleman at Mathews Ford in Newark, OH. I was fired last Thursday, so everything I say here might not be totally objective, but it is true in my experience.

First of all, I want to say that there are several people of integrity involved in the car business, and there are several motivated by netharious motives. The motive which motivates some is "GREED"! Greed has long been identified as one of the deadly sins, and so it is.

I will atempt, as objectively as possible to express observations and experiences. I will not use the language used towards me as I was called a GD MF'n liar ... and more shocked when Management defended them. Of course such statements were conversational English for some in management.

GREED is the operational word. Some who have no education or skills beyond that of sex. intimidation, or the gift of flirting and the ability to lie. make over $100,000 a year. This was supposed to be the motivation in bringing me to surrender all my ethics and surrender to the "business."

As I post this bog, I will reveal everything I know .... so hold on!

I have been raised, as indeed have all of my family with the Christian ethic which says the most rewarding act of life is serving and benefiting someone else! These people seem to be motivated by nothing more thn pure greed! I found it reprehsible!! One of the managers told me I needed to have more drive .... duh .... well you sir need to be more driven by peoples needs then your own pocketbook!

Speaking of pocketbooks. There are Salespeople working at Mathews who make over $125,000 a year. Now there are currently 15 salespeople, 4 Managers. I do not begrudge anyone earning a fair wage, but when over $2,000,000 is basically manipulated out of peoples pocketbooks it moves from honest gain to dishonest!

From my friend Land of Middle Girth

October 15, 2007 - Monday

Freedom brand nuts: Now with more cashews!

Since the 2008 presidential election season started in January 2001, the lives of individuals have, no doubt, gone through a laundry list of changes. New lives have been brought into the world, while some have left (some before their time,) people have gotten new jobs, moved their household, married, and retired. Such is the circle of life. Changes will be made, and lives will grow for the better or the worse. Some things, however, should not change. Some people view the actions of the government in the past seven years or so as adulterous to the vows taken in various ceremonies, while others are hard-pressed to find any fault and either do not care or have forgotten why and how America was founded and what that foundation consisted of. The birth-pains this country suffered to create a new life in the form of a constitutional republic, along with the philosophy that the continuity of a government based on freedom and liberty, regardless of antagonism, is paramount, are long elapsed. So what was considered when our government was authored? Let's look at one of our Founding Fathers and his critique of the nations in Europe and what would help their governments achieve perfection.
John Adams was America's first minister to the British court when the Constitutional Convention was assembled at Philadelphia, giving him insight not only to the issues pertinent to America, but of Europe as well. In his writing, The Prudent Constitutions of America, John Adams notes on the status of the ever changing face of Europe and the liberties contained therein. Concerning what would make some of these governments better, that is more free, he stated "Commerce begins to thrive; and if religious toleration were established, personal liberty, a little more protected, by giving an absolute right to demand a public trial in a certain reasonable time, and the states were invested with a few more privileges, or rather restored to some that have been taken away, these governments would be brought to as great a degree of perfection, they would approach as near to the character of government of laws and not of men, as their nature will probably admit of. In so general a refinement, or more properly a reformation of manners and improvement in science, is it not unaccountable that the knowledge of the principles and construction of free governments, in which the happiness of life, and even the further progress of improvement in education and society, in knowledge and virtue, are so deeply interested, should have remained at a full stand for two or three thousand years." There is a lot going on there, but breaking it down you can see what is considered by Mr. Adams to be five general definitions getting as close as you can come, to paraphrase his words, a perfect government.

While I really don't feel your time is best served by reading an exhaustive list of my opinions on John Adams and his opinions, I do, however wish to say, in respect to the above quote: our commerce thrives, but on the stupidity and greed, perpetuated by debt ridden individuals and government, our personal liberties have been slowly eroded, exposing a layer of authority driven not by the written laws that define this nation, but by a philosophy of power and tyranny of men, and the rights of the states within America are there only so far as the central government permits, although our founding documents declared it should not remotely be this way.

After reading the above quote of John Adams' definition of what it takes to achieve proximity to perfection of government, in the past seven years would you consider have we moved closer or are we further removed from that desirable goal? Are we to accept the Founding Father's opinions of the role of government to be sacred, or should the definition be altered and conformed to the will of the current social climate or to how the members of our government feel it should be altered?

C. S. Lewis stated "One cause of misery and vise is always present with us in the greed and pride of men, but at certain periods in history this is greatly increased by the temporary prevalence of some false philosophy." The philosophy, or belief of the role of government, through the greed and pride of men, has been subjected to a false ideology that threatens to erode our foundation. Erosion can occur both slowly with a trickle carving over time, or rapidly with a swift, voluminous flow Either way regardless of the material of the foundation, if that erosion if allowed to continue, a void will be created causing a miserable life in the form of government.

Perhaps it is inevitable that time will corrupt all truth and laws, and erosion fueled by our pride will wear away at what once was seen as honorable. Consider the Law handed down to Moses, the Law that was considered good and holy would, years later, be distorted as evidenced it's interpretation and manipulation by the Pharisee leaders. The Author of the Law, after His arrival, was subjected to ridicule and persecution leading ultimately to His execution. One wonders how a critique of our government by its founders would be received by those currently in power or the apologists along the sidelines.

Asserting the opinion that the government, to keep it mild, has lost its way will illicit amusing responses and accusations from most people, from whom you would be considered: anti-American, a conspiracy theorist, communist, or a plain old nut. Personally, I feel calling a fellow American a nut for believing we should follow the Constitution is tantamount to calling a fellow Christian a nut for believing the Gospel. To do either is inconsistent with what you declare to be true. Would you consider a vegan PETA member who offered you a bacon sandwich made with real bacon a person who is consistent with what defines their world view? What, then, would you call an American, who claims pride in his nationality yet believes following the Constitution, the document that defines America, is outdated, and erosion to that foundation is a good step? A nut.

Bill Lewis

I am really excited about a talent coming to Newark Heights on the 11th of November. You will want to check out his site. http://billlewissings.homestead.com/files/default.htm

I am learning

Well, I just completed learning how to create a photo gallery on my web site! I created some galleries and have several more to do. I decided to delete the movie link and just put any movies I find interesting here

I never thought I would say this but I am liking the PC more and more. I was able to create an ftp link to my server and transfer files just by dragging them. Neat!!

My son has a web site which is really cool. Because of his job he keeps it private. I wish you all could see it but times being what they are he is wise!

Check out this vid.

Time to go to sleep

Well, I have been working on our website all day! I am now quite tired, but at least I don't have to go to work tomorrow. (That is a subject for future blogs!). I am pretty pleased wit the site, but I am not real happy with the photo part. I need to link it to a photo hosting site. I have one on my server, but I need to figure it out. I hope to do so tommorow.

I am going to try to link a funny video here. If it works great, if it doesn't .... tomorrow!

My first post

Wow ... I can't believe how late it is! I have been working on our websit all afternoon and evening! I am still trying to get used to a PC after having the joy of working on a Mac. Hmmmm....I think I will get used to it, but it is so much more complicated! I also seem to be having trouble getting my mail! Must be some button buried somewhere!!
